From the ashes of
mediocrity rises one Washington, DCs’ most prolific and innovative
DJ/PRODUCER/REMIXER/SONG WRITER, “DJ ODEON”. Born and
raised in Compton California he began his musical life via his father
while listening to classics LPs and 8 TRACKs of Nat King Cole, Gladys
Night & The Pips, Al Green, Nancy Wilson, Dionne Warwick, and
Stevie Wonder, just to name a few. In the mid 70s thru the early 80s
is when he began his love for Disco & House. Watching djs Billie
Long and Ronnie Hardy sparked a fire never to be dimmed. The torch
for djing was lit, now beginning a whole new form of self expression
through song. With a couple of years practice, he got his first gig
at a small spot in central Los Angeles call “Kaboom”.
After a 1 year residency and a changing world, he picked up and moved
to Washington, DC in 1987.

This
is where the fire went from spark to flame. While watching and mentoring
under the Legendary “CLUB HOUSE & DELTA ELITE” djs
TITO ROBINSON, DJ MANDRILL & DJ BILLIE MIMMS his passion for
music grew even stronger. After a (2) year residency at NOB HILL,
he started playing around with his drum machine, conjuring various
house beats. During the summer of 1992 he got his first small break
by landing Wednesday and Thursday night spots at Hill Haven and
The Bachelor's Mill.
The summer of 93’ & 94’ offered his biggest break
yet, in landing several guest spots at Baltimore’s own legendary
dance club, “THE PARADOX” with DJ Teddy Douglas of the
Basement Boys.
While occasionally doing guest spots at
many of Washington’s popular dance venues, DJ ODEON embarked
on his first production release, “CLUB ODEON featuring TIA
ADE’ in UNITY” . UNITY became a crate favorite and classic
among many of Washington/Los Angeles/Chicago & New York djs.
During the summer of 2002 UNITY gained worldwide notoriety after
legendary djs TONY HUMPHRIES, ROGER SANCHEZ, RON CARROLL, DOUG SMITH
of 95 NORTH and TEDDY DOUGLAS of HE BASEMENT BOYS began to support
the track. 2003 DJ ODEON’s career began to pick up steam with
the release of his 3rd release (and smash hit) “HAPPYMAN”
& “CENTRAL PARK” off “THE CLUB ODEON EP #1”.
While HAPPYMAN became a smash it in mainstream dance clubs, CENTRAL
PARK gained critical acclaim and notoriety as the UNDERGROUND HIT.
